We will share Communion

For this separate/together service you are invited to gather a few things for your table:

  • A candle
  • A flower, palm, fern or branch from your yard
  • A small amount of some kind of bread. Any kind of bread that you can break and eat.
  • A cup of juice or wine for each person present; grape or cranberry juice if you have them, but really any juice or even water is fine.

Set these elements wherever you sit for ZOOM worship. You might choose to use a piece of cloth or fabric as a table cloth; something that reminds you of a special time or place, or connects you to someone in the communion of saints.

Call To Worship

Howard Neal

Psalm 118: 1-2, 19-29

O give thanks to the LORD, for God is good; God’s steadfast love endures forever!
Let Israel say, "God’s steadfast love endures forever."

Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.

This is the gate of the holy one; the righteous shall enter through it.
I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.
This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord.
The Lord is God, and he has given us light.

Bind the festal procession with branches, up to the horns of the altar.
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God, I will extol you.
Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good, for God’s steadfast love endures forever.

Prayer of Invocation

Compassionate God, the wind of your Spirit is life for all who long for you.
One breath from you and we are rescued from the arid valley of dry bones.
One breath from you and our hearts turn back to hope.
Let our whole lives be filled with this life-breath, this Spirit,
so that what now lies dormant may burst into bloom,
so that all that has been entombed by fear may emerge into new life. Amen.

Come to the Waters

“Come, Jesus is calling to you. Reach out, take my hand, you’ll not fall.
Come, come, I am waiting for you, o’er the waters of life, hear my call.”

“Reach out in faith, cross the waters to me.
Your hand in mine, that’s the way it should be.
Stretch out in faith, take my hand if you will.
Waters be calm! Wind be still.”

“Walk out in faith, take the risk if you can.
I bring you peace, come along, take my hand.
Step out in faith, I will carry you on.
You may be weak; I am strong.”
