Podcast: The sermon by Rev. Jeanne Randall-Bodman presented on Sunday, April 22, 2018

“These are the voices of the young people: on the one hand, not quite sure that there will be any HERE here for them by the time they reach full adulthood, and on the other hand, determined to act for the common good so that there will be a stable world for all. I am filled with a spirit of gratitude for their determination to write a new ending to the story, for their willingness to be in the struggle although the outcome is uncertain. And this is where I believe God is calling us, to be part of writing that new ending to the story."

Podcast: The sermon by Rev. Jeanne Randall-Bodman presented on Sunday, April 15, 2018

“We are each and everyone of us called to be witnesses. For many of us, that’s an uncomfortable call… We are not called to convert or convince anyone. We don’t need to be experts or authorities or academics. We don’t need to have all the answers or perfection. We aren’t meant to argue anyone into submission. What we are asked to offer is our own experiences. It takes honesty and the courage to be vulnerable. Armed with those, we can witness to the hope of life and new life, witness to our belief and our experience that love is stronger than death, witness to the belief that the arc of the moral universe is long and that we all have a part in bending it toward justice."

Podcast: The sermon by Rev. Jeanne Randall-Bodman presented on Sunday, April 8, 2018

“For too long we have believed that the divine, for which we long, is outside of us. When we focus our longing on a far away divinity, we put an unfair strain on that longing. And sometimes our longing, overstrained in that way, bends back on itself and becomes cynicism, and emptiness, and negativity. We do not need to strain towards a distant God. If we believe that the body is in the soul and the soul is divine ground, then the presence of the divine is completely here, close with us, and that experience of the divine is available to us. We do not need to limit our searching after God, our desire to find God’s peace to the work of the intellect alone.”

Podcast: The sermon by Rev. Jeanne Randall-Bodman presented on Sunday, March 18, 2018

“The beloved community of Jesus works not with sympathetic love, the love that says ‘I’m taking care of you because I feel bad for you,’ but with empathetic love, the love that says ‘I do this because your pain is my pain.’”

“The eternal life promised is less about the endless extension of days, and more about the depth and richness and abundance of love available here and now, and always, even in to those endless days.”
