Podcast: The sermon by KMUCC member Dave Parker presented on Sunday, August 25, 2019

“Last fall, Cindy and I took an incredible trip to South Africa… Later in December, we took another vacation to Charleston, South Carolina… At some point this past year I mentioned to Jeannie that we had visited both places; South Africa with its history of racism, apartheid, and the ugly history of the ruling white minority; and Charleston where the first shots of the Civil War were fired at Fort Sumpter, and slavery was alive in our country, front and center. The comparison between the two countries and their history of racism were very obvious and apparent.”

Podcast: The sermon by Rev. Jeanne Randall-Bodman presented on Sunday, September 1, 2019

“It’s hard to know, hard to see, the unwelcome that some people feel and are experiencing all around us, all the time. It’s hard to see what we ourselves are not experiencing. Most of the time we don’t even notice that we are swimming in a sea of privilege, set up for us by a culture and a political system that we didn’t create… The most obvious, ubiquitous, important realities are often the ones that are hardest to see, much less talk about.”

Liberating Words:

Hebrews 13: 1-8, 15-16
Luke 14: 1, 7-14
