Ian Timmons, Music Team Director

Ian is a gifted vocalist and alumni of Portland State University (PSU), where he has appeared in various opera productions. He is also among the alumni of the internationally acclaimed and award-wining PSU Chamber Choir. Ian joined KMUCC as a singer in the choir seven years ago and took on the role of Music Director two years ago, which he describes as "so much fun, as well as amazingly fulfilling."

Elliot Balmer, Accompanist

Elliot is currently a junior at Lincoln High School in Portland. He comes from a musical family, long associated with KMUCC. His grandmother, Elisabeth "Betty" Balmer, was a long-time piano instructor at Lewis & Clark College. Although Elliot was not a pupil of his grandmother, he enjoys playing duets with her when he visits. Elliot's first teacher was his father, the guitarist Dan Balmer. Elliot thinks his Dad is a good teacher, but he eventually had to move on to a musician focused on the piano. Elliot has recently been studying the pipe organ. He plans to study music in college and is starting to think about putting together some YouTube performance clips for his college applications. Work with the Kairos-Milwaukie choir is Elliot's first accompanist job.

Lily Breshears, Accompanist & Choir Section Lead

A harp-plucking, keyboard-playing, bass-thumping mezzo soprano, Lily moves fluidly between the alto and soprano sections of our choir. She wrote her first song when she was four and bugged her mother until she was able to take piano lessons. Lily was born in Woodburn, went to high school in Salem and graduated from PSU after studying math, choral singing and composition. She got to know to know director Ian and our former accompanist Colin Shepherd in the PSU Chamber Choir. Lily teaches piano at Waldorf School and also teaches private piano and voice lessons. She also brings her musical talents to various bands around Portland.

Lizzie Soper, Choir Section Lead

Dan Hunter, Choir Section Lead
